Cleary Gottilieb

As part of a project for Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, I worked on building an alumni portal that would facilitate better communication, networking, and engagement for the firm's global alumni community. Cleary Gottlieb, a prestigious international law firm with a rich history dating back to 1946, is known for its global presence, legal expertise, and collegial work environment. The firm sought to create a tailored alumni portal to foster lasting connections with its former employees while enhancing career development, networking opportunities, and engagement with the firm’s latest activities.

The initial phase of the project involved consulting with Cleary Gottlieb to understand their specific needs for the alumni platform. Given the firm's widespread international presence and diverse client base, it was essential to create a system that not only served the alumni but also aligned with Cleary Gottlieb’s culture and business goals. One of the key objectives was to make the alumni portal easy to use while offering a wide range of customizable features, including seamless integration with the firm’s existing Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities. This ensured a smooth and secure enrollment process for alumni while streamlining the registration and login experience.

To make the portal unique to Cleary Gottlieb, we focused on tailoring the platform’s branding, domain name, and communications plan to reflect the firm’s prestigious identity. This included integrating news feeds and event updates, allowing the firm to keep alumni informed about important happenings within the organization. Additionally, we made it easy for alumni to create profiles by leveraging LinkedIn integrations, simplifying the process and ensuring that the information gathered was both accurate and comprehensive. This enhanced the ability for alumni to network and reconnect with former colleagues, making the portal a hub for professional growth and collaboration.

The portal also featured tools to help alumni stay engaged with their careers, such as job opportunities both within Cleary Gottlieb and from external sources like Indeed and LinkedIn. By creating a centralized job board, the platform helped to facilitate job searches and referral opportunities among alumni. Furthermore, we implemented networking groups where alumni could share industry insights and best practices, enriching the overall experience of the platform. Communication tools like chat, messaging, and video conferencing were embedded to allow alumni to stay in touch and collaborate, regardless of their location.

To further drive engagement, we built functionality for promoting and managing alumni events. Alumni could easily see who from their network would be attending and register for events directly through the portal. Alongside these features, career development tools were added to provide valuable advice and resources for alumni to continue advancing their professional journeys. Automated email campaigns were set up to nurture alumni relationships, encouraging them to stay engaged and act as brand ambassadors for Cleary Gottlieb.

To ensure that Cleary Gottlieb could measure the success of the platform, we implemented program metric dashboards that provided real-time insights into key performance indicators (KPIs). This allowed the firm to track alumni engagement, job placements, event participation, and more. Throughout the project, our strategic customer success team provided ongoing consulting and best practice advice to maximize the impact of the alumni portal, ensuring that Cleary Gottlieb received the most value from the solution. The end result was an intuitive, dynamic, and engaging alumni portal that enhanced Cleary Gottlieb’s relationship with its former employees while supporting their ongoing professional development.

Banter

I was brought on by Signet to work on the eCommerce website for Piercing Pagoda, a leading jewelry brand, and played a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience and visual appeal of the site. My responsibilities included collaborating closely with their in-house design team to manage the homepage and build out various landing pages. This partnership proved successful, resulting in an expanded scope of work that included other well-known Signet brands such as Zales, Zales Outlet, and Peoples Jewelers. Each brand presented its own unique challenges and opportunities, but the most significant and transformative project I worked on was the complete rebranding of Piercing Pagoda to its new identity as Banter.

The rebranding of Piercing Pagoda to Banter required a comprehensive website redesign to align with the fresh brand identity and engage a broader audience. The goal was to create a modern, user-friendly site that better reflected Banter's new brand vision while also optimizing the eCommerce experience to drive traffic and sales. As part of the redesign process, I worked on implementing a fresh visual identity, including updated color schemes, typography, and imagery that resonated with the new brand message. This redesign not only refreshed the visual aesthetics but also enhanced the overall user experience, ensuring that customers could easily navigate the site, discover products, and complete transactions with ease.

Website redesign and branding go hand in hand, and it was essential to ensure that the visual changes aligned with the updated messaging and core values of Banter. By integrating a new brand identity into the website’s design, we were able to establish consistency across all digital touchpoints, which strengthened brand recognition. The redesign focused on creating a more memorable and appealing user experience, which ultimately enhanced customer trust and engagement. With the fresh look and more intuitive layout, Banter’s website became a powerful tool for communicating the brand’s mission and values, as well as for improving conversions and user interaction.

The success of the Banter rebranding led to significant improvements in site traffic and sales. Through strategic optimization, we were able to streamline the shopping experience, making it quicker and easier for customers to browse and purchase. Additionally, the redesign helped to establish stronger customer connections, creating a website that wasn’t just a place to shop, but a destination that reflected the personality and spirit of the Banter brand. Following this successful project, I continued working with Signet on their other brands, ensuring that the best practices established with Banter were applied across their digital properties to create a cohesive and high-performing online presence for all Signet brands.

This project underscored the importance of a strong, cohesive brand identity and how a thoughtful website redesign can serve as a key tool in reinforcing that brand. The rebranding of Piercing Pagoda to Banter was not just about updating the logo or color scheme; it was about aligning the digital experience with the brand’s new direction and ensuring that every element of the website—design, functionality, and content—worked together to enhance customer engagement and drive business growth.

CIELODRIVE.COM

CieloDrive.com is a comprehensive online archive dedicated to preserving and sharing information about the Manson Family cases, including the infamous 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and others. Established over two decades ago, the site has amassed more than 80,000 pages of case documents, thousands of original photographs, and numerous hours of investigative audio recordings. Their mission focuses on lobbying law enforcement agencies to release complete case files to enhance public understanding of these events.

The website features detailed sections on the individuals involved, including members of the Manson Family and the victims. It also houses extensive photo archives from the 1969–1970 period, covering key locations like the Spahn and Barker Ranches, as well as various trials.

My role at CieloDrive.com involves a diverse set of responsibilities, with a particular focus on curating and presenting a comprehensive archive of materials related to the Manson Family. While my work spans research, archiving, and digitization, a significant part of my role is dedicated to the design and functionality of the website. I work to manage the site’s structure, ensuring that the layout is both user-friendly and visually engaging, so that visitors can easily navigate through the extensive collection of case files, photographs, and media. This includes overseeing the homepage, creating landing pages, and optimizing the site’s design to reflect the gravity of the subject matter while maintaining accessibility.

Alongside my design work, I focus on acquiring and preserving crucial historical records, particularly original photographs, which play a vital role in documenting the case. I am responsible for scanning and restoring photographic negatives and prints, maintaining the world’s largest archive of Manson-related images. These photographs are not only valuable for historical preservation but are also frequently used by various media outlets. I consult with major productions, including Netflix, Peacock, Epix, Reelz, ABC News, and others, providing them with authentic photographs and documents to support their portrayals of the case.

In addition to these tasks, I play a key role in sourcing and securing case files from various law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police, the District Attorney's Office, and the California Department of Corrections. This has provided CieloDrive.com with unprecedented access to official records, allowing the website to offer an incredibly detailed account of the Manson Family case. My efforts in collaborating with these agencies ensure that the content on CieloDrive.com is accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive.

Another aspect of my work includes interviewing key figures involved in the case, providing firsthand accounts and insights that further enrich the archive. These interviews, alongside the visual and documentary content, help paint a more complete picture of the events surrounding the Manson Family murders. Additionally, my involvement in coding and managing the site's design ensures that the growing archive is presented in a seamless, organized manner, allowing users to easily access the materials they are looking for.

Overall, my role at CieloDrive.com blends research, archival management, and design, all aimed at providing the most thorough and accessible resource for those interested in the Manson Family case. My work ensures that CieloDrive.com remains a key destination for true crime enthusiasts, researchers, and anyone looking to understand the full scope of this infamous chapter in American history.
